Subject	Detonation Sensor Sound

Message	For a long time I have attempted to locate a problem with a cold hesitation and have noticed the ECU is constantly running the timing retarded. So I decided to listen to the detonation sensor in order to see if I am really detonating and thus causing the ECU to retard the timing. Never did hear any detonation. Used the circuit listed on this page. HERE is a link to the audio clip I recorded. Has anyone else ever done this or can tell me if the alternator whine in the clip is normal? Seems to me there is an awful lot of noise from the alternator, and from what I can tell the lifter noises are normal, although I could be wrong about that. -Jason
